Fans fear Jeremy Renner will need his leg amputated after his snowplow accident, despite no evidence confirming the life-changing surgery.

Marvel addicts have been closely following Jeremy Renner’s road to recovery after the Hawkeye star was involved in a severe snowplowing accident on New Year’s Day.

The actor, 52, was “crushed” when he was accidentally run over by the heavy-duty machinery he had been operating near his Nevada home, reports TMZ.

He was airlifted to the hospital after suffering from “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries”, CNN writes, and has undergone two surgeries.

The Mission: Impossible star thanked fans for their well-wishes from the hospital with a visibly bruised face. “I’m too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all,” he wrote on Instagram.

The rumor on the street is that Jeremy could lose his leg, but HITC is here to set the record straight – neither the actor nor his representatives have mentioned a possible amputation at the time of writing. Fans are simply fearing the worst after one link to the surgery.

There’s no proof Jeremy Renner needs his leg amputated

On January 9, Radar Online updated that his family was concerned he’d be “crippled for life” after two “delicate surgeries.”

“His loved ones worry the damage was significant enough to prevent him from moving the way he used to – that is, if he doesn’t lose the leg altogether,” they wrote.

Florida-based doctor Dr Gabe Mirkin reportedly told a news outlet that Renner may need surgically implanted rods to help his legs heal, before adding that the movie star could face amputation.

Fans have shared their concerns about their favorite action star losing his leg:

“No, do not amputate Jeremy Renner’s leg!” one begged.

Another similarly commented: “I really hope Jeremy Renner doesn’t have to amputate his leg man…”

HITC notes that Dr Mirkin was not the doctor who treated Jeremy. “Blunt chest trauma means he could have cracked his ribs,” he added. “There could be heart damage.”

Jeremy Renner returns home two weeks after severe injuries

Jeremy revealed to fans’ excitement that he has recovered enough to return home.

His priority, of course, was to tune into the season 2 premiere of his Paramount Plus show, Mayor Of Kingstown.

“Outside my brain fog in recovery, I was very excited to watch episode 201 with my family at home,” he wrote on Monday (January 16).

On Instagram, meanwhile, he shared his fondness for his “happy place” – his home – while warning about the dangers of the wintery weather,

“It’s a rough ride over the pass,” he captioned images of the severe snow. “Be safe out there Reno/Tahoe,” Renner wrote on his Story.
