Luke Perry’s daughter, Sophie Perry, is honoring the late actor by having a Malawi school named after him.

It has been almost two months since the Beverly Hills 90210 star suddenly passed away. Although his fans were devastated by Luke’s death, no one was more heartbroken than his children Jack and Sophie. The latter was in Africa when her father had a massive stroke.

Although Sophie spent a significant amount of time at home with her family after Luke’s passing, she returned to Africa at the beginning of April. She along with two of her friends, Gabriela and Ruben, have been living in Malawi. The three are serving as developmental instructors to help build much-needed preschools in rural areas.

The 18-year-old used social media to share not only that the first preschool was opening, but she also thanked Ruben for helping her get the school named after her late father.

“thank you to everybody who donated to help with our projects! Our first school is finished, and I can’t tell you how proud and excited I am to see it open on Wednesday. Thank you to my amazing partner Ruben for everything. Especially for fighting to name the school after my dad,” the young woman wrote along with a group photo in front of the school where the word Luke can be made out.

Sophie has been vocal on social media about how losing Luke has impacted her young life. She shared with her followers her journey to get back home in time to say goodbye, as well as praised him constantly for being an explementary father.

In one Instagram post, she also expressed how grateful she was for the heartfelt messages, love, condolences, and tributes to her dad in the days following his death. It meant a lot to her and her brother Jack to hear stories about the man they lost too soon.
