Ashanti is making moves that not many people saw coming. Over the weekend, the stunning and talented R&B singer went to New York to embrace a cause that is dear to her heart — the environment and she made a big announcement on that front.

After enjoying the fantastic weather in beautiful Sint Maarten and headlining the Dutch island’s carnival season, she arrived at the Empire State to get a bit more political and encourage the world to beat plastic pollution.

The New York native was very proud to meet with some very important people like María Fernanda Espinosa, the current president of the United Nations General Assembly. Ja Rule’s friend then took her advocacy online by sharing a few pictures from her different meetings.

She used the opportunity to announce that there will be a big concert in Antigua on June 1st to continue the fight against plastic pollution.

Artists like Trinidad’s Machel Montano with whom she worked on the song, “The Road,” will be part of the Play It Out Concert lineup to push the cause.

Fans of Ashanti felt inspired that she is getting involved with an issue like this. Plastic pollution is still not a major concern for most despite all the talks about climate change and the environment.

One commenter answered Ashanti’s call by saying: “My InSpiration God sees your good heart Ashanti/humbleness beautiful.”

A second follower continued with: “Not just beauty and talent, but brains and compassion too ❤️ your laugh is mad contagious.”

A third person chimed in: “We STAN!! A legend that not only gave us bops but cares about the environment and our future.”

Ashanti also posted a video in which she explains why the environment is important to her. The 37-year-old songwriter made some news by revealing that she wants children in the future.

Moreover, the Stuck actress found a smart way to avoid getting herself in trouble when a journalist decided to bring up President Donald Trump’s policies when it comes to the environment.

Ashanti has been trying to bring awareness to many things lately, especially when it comes to the issue of wellness.

When it comes to the food people eat, she recently explained: “I cut out a lot of meat. I think again, self-health and self-awareness are so important. All of that stuff is so important to maintaining your body, knowing what’s in your food, the GMO’s and the chemicals, and I’m super aware of this stuff.”

Shia Douglas’ sister continued with: “I feel like it’s very necessary to just be aware of what you’re eating. I have a trainer, and we try to go five days a week when I’m home and then when I get to another place, he’s texting me a workout or he’ll FaceTime me and say, ‘Are you still in the bed?’ We try to keep it going.”

In clear, she had a lot of things to say, and she managed to do so with a lot of poise. Supporters are hoping that this new sense of urgency might be palpable on her next album.
