Adam Sandler wears the same suit to everything I dont even change the tie

I love Adam Sandler, he’s truly grown on me through watching his shows and interviews, but people don’t comment on his stories so I rarely cover him. He was on The Tonight Show this last week doing an awards show push for his very watchable basketball drama, Hustle, on Netflix co-starring Queen Latifah. I don’t really follow sports at all and I found it inspirational and entertaining. It’s an uplifting watch. Adam talked to Fallon about his recent hip replacement and told some stories about his family. He was wearing a hoodie on a late night talk show! He’s uncomfortable dressing up and said that he knew he had to get a new suit for an award he was getting, but that he put it off and ended up wearing the same suit he wore to his daughter’s bat mitzvah six months ago. He said he always wears the same suit and tie to events.

On covering AARP Magazine
That came with the hip surgery. They called me up, they said, ‘We heard.’

On hating to dress up for events
I gotta dress up. I just don’t like it. My wife dresses up, and she looks great. I should look good for her. But every time… ‘Hey, that thing’s on Thursday. I should get a suit,’ ‘Oh, it’s already Wednesday.

Sunny’s bat mitzvah was like six months ago, so I always wear the bat mitzvah suit. I don’t even change the tie. Sometimes I change my socks, but no one sees that.

Celebrity women can’t do this and the only example I can remember is when Tiffany Haddish was wearing the same white McQueen dress to everything. Men really have a “uniform” for events and they can choose to wear different colors or mix it up, but they’re not criticized if they just wear the same suit. It’s getting to the point where women can dress more casually for talk show interviews, but the equivalent to Sandler’s outfit would be a woman in a sweatsuit. That would be kind of awesome actually, I’m all for that. Remember when Pete Davidson wore a hoodie to an event and Kaley Cuoco was all dressed up? I’m not here to criticize Sandler. By all accounts he’s a standup guy and I appreciate how down to earth and just funny he is. I think it’s cool that he wears whatever he wants, I just wish the same standards were applied to women.

Sandler did a press conference recently where he talked about the negative critical response to his first few movies. He sounded fine with it and said that everything has turned out great and that “it’s okay, I get it. Critics aren’t going to connect with certain stuff.” He’s since shown that he can act with Uncut Gems and now Hustle so maybe he’s going to get that awards recognition. Not an Oscar nom necessarily, but maybe a Golden Globe.

These photos of Sandler at events last month are from the Governor’s Awards on November 19th (white dress) and the Gotham Awards on November 29th (black dress). I don’t think that’s the same suit! Maybe he’s worn the bat mitzvah/Gotham Awards suit a few times though.
